Detex ProxiPen Quick Start Load the software, connect the reader. Remove the battery insulator in the ProxiPen. NEVER over-tighten the end on the ProxiPen. Snug is better than crippling-tight.
On a sheet of paper, draw a map of the facility where you will be using this system. Put an "X" where the stations will be. Number and name these stations. Stations are also called "Checkpoints". See the other article on how to lay all this out, print it out. Click on this line for it.
On your desk, set up the largest Tags (50mm), put stickers on them. Label them A,B,C,D, and E In a separate area, set up the smaller Tags (30mm), put stickers on them as well. Label them 1,2,3,4,5... up to 25. DO NOT SCAN THEM YET.
After you have installed the software, define each tour and read the Tag that you marked. If you have just one (1) tour, you still need a Tag as a tour title marker (start point) for the software. Now you will upload the reads to the software, in small batches. Put the names in place of the Tag (A,B,C,D,E) on the worksheet. Read those Tags, upload them to the software. Change the names of the Tags in the software.
Next, read the Tour Tags. Upload them. Rename them in the software. To create a tour, simply select from your menus of tours and tags and assign them. Now go out and place the tags on location. Glue or screw them to the wall. Sunny-side down is less conspicuous. Paint over them if you like. This should get you started. Call Detex at 1(800) 729-3839 for additional technical help.
